TIPS DURING HOME SAFETY

Whether you are buying, building or just remodelling your home make sure to select roofing that is fire resistant.
Install a locked mailbox at your home to ensure all important documents received are secured and are safe with you.
To help prevent theft, if you plan to be away from home for an extended period of time, set up a burglar alarm or security cameras. Never leave notes on your door for service people or visitors when you are not home. It sends out wrong signals.
Did you know if your power goes out, a full freezer can hold food safely for up to 48 hours? Therefore, stock the fridge accordingly.
It is recommended to have interconnected smoke alarms. These alarms are linked together; if one alarm is triggered they all go off and is an excellent way of calling help and get attention in case of an emergency.
Houses with swimming pool should never leave children alone near water.
Keep unplug unused appliances and stow cords safely out of reach of pets and young children.  All electrical appliances should also be away from water such as sinks, bathtubs, pools or overhead vents that may drip.
If you smell gas, leave the area immediately and open all windows.
Accidents can happen to anyone almost anywhere. It is important that every home, and especially those with children, have a first aid kit in hand in case of accidental injuries.
