| Dress Right |
| Wearing the right clothing during Diwali celebrations is vital to ensure that your Diwali is safe |
Wear only 100% cotton clothes. |
Opt for clothes that are well fitted as loose and frilly clothes can catch fire unknowingly which can be dangerous. |
If you are wearing a saree or using a dupatta make sure that the loose ends are tied well. |
Opt for maximum coverage as it ensures better safety from fire. |
Take care of your shoes. Frilly, decorative shoes are not the right option while burning fire crackers. |
| Precautions against firecrackers |
| If you are going to indulge in burning crackers, keep in mind that you are going to play with fire; so be cautious every moment |
Always buy fire crackers from a licensed dealer. |
Store the fire crackers in a closed box away from fire, heat and electrical wirings. |
Light fire crackers only in an outdoor, open space, like a garden, a park or an open terrace. |
Light fire crackers only after placing them properly on a firm surface, never light crackers holding them in your hand. |
| First Aid Tips for Burns |
Keep a bucket of water, sand or fire extinguisher near the place where you are burning firecrackers. |
Always keep a first aid box ready. |
In case of mild burn, wash the burnt area of the body with normal water for at least 10 minutes and follow it with a cream that can soothe the skin before consulting a doctor. |
In case of severe burn, immediately remove the clothes from the body of the person and keep him/her wrapped in a thick cotton bed sheet before taking him/her to the hospital. |
