FIRE SAFETY TIP - FIRE HAZARDS AND CLOTHING

With the festivities approaching and winter being just around the corner, it is time to not only celebrate with joy but also take care of you & your loved ones.
Always consider purchasing fabrics like nylon, silk or wool that are difficult to ignite and tend to self-extinguish.
Look at the construction of the fabric because tight weaves, knits and fabrics without fuzzy or napped surface are less likely to ignite and burn rapidly.
Prefer purchasing garments that can be removed without having to pull them over the head. If a garment can be easily stripped off when it catches fire, injury will be far less severe.
Consider the flammability of fabrics containing cotton, polyester blends, acrylic and rayon because they are relatively easy to ignite and burn rapidly.
Follow manufacturer’s care and cleaning instructions to ensure that their flame-resistant properties are maintained.
