COMBATING THE MONSOON

Monsoons bring in much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat for Delhiites.
Here are a few tips we propose for battling the upcoming torrential rains while keeping your fashion game on point.
Monsoon style closet
Look nothing less than fabulous by teaming up bright-coloured crop tops and tank tops with shorts or skirts. Furthermore, you can layer it with a trendy poncho or windcheater while stepping out for protection.
Ditch the big black umbrella and opt for bright-coloured options and trendy designs.
Dress up in your chiffon dresses this season as it creates a natural flowy silhouette which is quite reminiscent of lazy, rainy days and known to tackle the moody weather quite comprehensively.
Give your stilettos and peep toes a break by opting for breathable rain-friendly options such as wedges and other strappy footwear.
Avoid leaving your hair open, go for messy braids or ponytails instead.
Avoid carrying leather products such as handbags, wallets and shoes, as contact with water can deteriorate the products. Instead, try opting for products made of Nylon and Polyester which are resistant to water damage.
Last but not the least, moisturize and keep your skin well hydrated. Ditch heavy foundations and look fresh by applying light make up.
General monsoon vigilance
Keep an eye out for hanging branches, loose strands and deformed objects outside as heavy showers and thunderstorms bring in high wind speeds leading to uprooting of trees, traffic signages and other objects.
Be on guard to not be electrocuted by loose wires and electrical fixtures. Keep away from any downed power lines.
Make sure to stay indoors during dust storms as dust can enter the eyes while also causing significant damage to hair and skin.
Its advised to make sure you switch on the reflector lights in the car to alert other drivers of your presence in the case of low visibility.
Be cautious about the food you consume in this weather. Ideally, opt for boiled food or food from only the most trusted sources.
Keep washing your hands regularly or carry a hand sanitizer while stepping out in order to avoid communicable diseases, as germs get collected on places such as railings, door handles etc.
